CCLS Offices - Eastern Metro Region

Supporting Milwaukee County

History

CCLS began serving Milwaukee County residents with developmental disabilities in 1974 with an eight-person Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF). Today, the Eastern Metro Region provides services and supports to more than 50 clients in licensed programs.

This growth started in the 1970s with the opening of the six-bed Lapham group home and three additional licensed facilities. In the 80s, CCLS opened three accessible homes in the Milwaukee area in addition to two homes that targeted individuals with behavioral challenges.

In 1983, Milwaukee County awarded CCLS with a contract to monitor the one to two-bed Adult Family Care program, which CCLS continues to be involved in by providing waiver case management. Also in 1983, CCLS opened its first office at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Today, this office is located at 1417 N. Wauwautosa Avenue.

The Eastern Metro Region continued to grow in 1992 when CCLS received a contract to provide supports to individuals in their own apartments. This program is known as the Supported Living Options (SLO) program and now supports more than 30 people who live in their own apartments in the community.

In 2005, CCLS opened two five-bed CBRFs and was awarded the Waiver Program contract. This program provides long-term support case management services to individuals who have waiver funding. Today, CCLS provides services to more than 150 clients in the Waiver Case Management program.
